Welcome to the Añangu Community
As is the case of many Kichwa communities, Añangu strives with much difficulty to maintain their ageless traditions intact, perhaps a near-impossible task in this modern day. Añangu remains proud of their culture and aware of the need to preserve the natural resources of their land. With the help of foreign investment, willing to assist the community in their sincere endeavor to manage natural resources in a sustainable way, Añangu decided to create Napo Wildlife Center as an ecotourism destination that would showcase the wonders of Amazonia as well as the lifestyle, traditions and beliefs of their culture. During a period of about two full years, the community’s men and women built the entire lodge, transporting all the materials by boat, foot and canoe to the site where Napo Wildlife Center stands today.
