Video of Giant Otters at the Napo Wildlife Center
This is a short and compressed video taken on the
stream behind the Napo Wildlife Center. |
There is a healthy population of Giant Otters at the Napo Wildlife Center. Not so long ago Giant Otters were thought to be extinct along the Napo because of extensive hunting for the fur trade, but the Anangu Community protected these animals from hunters and quietly kept them safe. Giant Otters are found in all of the streams and in front of the lodge in the lake - they have several dens around the reserve area and are seen several times a week on average. The Napo Wildlife Center also has two parrot blinds that allow you to see more parrots than anywhere else in Ecuador, as well as the best canopy tower in Ecuador. |
