From birds to mammals, from insects to amphibians! There is a huge variety of animals and insects you can observe to delight your eyes while enjoying the best views our nature can give you.
Our most important attractions have been the parrot clay licks and everything related to birds: we must mention them because there are more than 610 species of birds inside the Yasuni National Park, which makes 40% of the total number of birds in the whole Amazon Basin. However, there are also other animals that fill the Amazonia and will make your journey inside our complex more enjoyable and full of fun! As an example we can show you our adorable monkeys or the caimans!
Let’s begin with the most charming ones: monkeys! Here you will discover 11 different kinds of monkeys, such as the capuchins, red howlers, spider monkeys, Saki or golden mantle tamarins.
You can also watch larger mammals such as the capybaras, giant river otters (a unique kind), tapirs, giant armadillos, pumas, jaguars, giant anteaters…
Anacondas, lizards, army ants, frogs, tortoises and many more species live here. And you may have heard about dangerous piranhas from that old movie… well, they live here, too! Of course you cannot watch them closely, but they are everywhere, as other kinds of colorful fish! Take a canoe trip to observe them better!
Absolutely yes! In the Añangucocha Lake we do have four species of alligator-related species, called caimans! The most famous one here is the black caiman, which is the largest of all alligators (six meters long). It lives mostly in the Amazon and it is endangered in the rest of the World, so you will see a real jewel!
The most exotic birds of the world are here in the Amazon.
The most known birds can be seen:
Even the not-so-known species are here:
And the rarities:
Always expect the unexpected. While you are with us, our staff will constantly tell you (even at night, when you can also hike) about wildlife movements, so you don’t miss a single animal or experience! Be always careful; remember you are in a sanctuary, so animals and the whole place must be protected from mean purposes.
Every single species lives without the risk of being hunted, because we turned this area into a natural sanctuary! Our land is so rich in animals, plants, food and landscapes you will enjoy every single day you stay here!
