Napo Wildlife Center is the dreamland of photographers from all over the world, who travel to capture the most incredible creatures in a show of colors and nature like no other.
Our exclusive tour of 3 or 4 nights – optional – is guided by award-winning photographers and biologists, who lead an experience suitable for experienced professionals, as for beginners. With the sole purpose of locating our visitors in the right place, at the right time, the route is designed to get the best shots possible, both the breathtaking landscapes, as the amazing birds, animals and insects that will find on the road.
Additionally, this tour will teach you important techniques to take pictures of the wild life, how to use the natural light of the jungle and take advantage of the numerous benefits that this offers the artist.
To start the action, we will deploy our cameras and begin to shoot as we touch the black water of the Añangu estuary, while approaching the lands of the Napo Wildlife Center. Our complex consists of 20 cabins built on one, which offers an exceptional view of the landscape. Here, you can also find different common areas of recreation where you can relax and enjoy the panorama.
Upon reaching the premises and after check-in, we will go to the Observation Tower: a fantastic 36-meter-high sight point that is the best location to take panoramic photographs of the surroundings.
From the top, it is possible to appreciate the immensity of the Yasuní National Park, a biosphere reserve protected by Unesco and one of the ecosystems with the greatest biodiversity on the planet. From this place you will understand why this is one of the favorite destinations for the world’s photographers and nature lovers.
As the ultimate goal of this program is to help you get the best shots possible, the activities to be done can be chosen according to the light you prefer to work with.
Every hour of the day offers a different and spectacular tonality, to be used by the photographer according to the intention that wants to be given to the portrait; according to the story you want to tell.
We recommend starting the day with contemplation of the sunrise from the hotel’s tower, and then walk the paths that surround it. After that, it is possible to go to the black water river streams, in search of otters, caimans and various species of monkeys and birds that roam the place.
Mornings and evenings are also ideal for visiting the bird salons: one of the most colorful and majestic spectacles of the Amazon, where you can not only meet different types of birds, but also other fantastic animals.
The nights in the jungle offer a different panorama, but equally magnificent for those who are in the crusade for the perfect photography. The nocturnal walks along the trails near the lodge allow us to see countless amphibians, reptiles and insects of different types. The surroundings of the lagoon also offer a unique setting, displaying a variety of impressive crocodiles and amazingly colorful frogs. There is a unique character of the photographs taken in the jungle nights, which add a veil of mystery and intensity difficult to obtain in other contexts. These instances truly offer the opportunity to achieve exceptional shots thanks to the game of shadows and the magical creatures that can only be found at night in the jungle.
But not everything is practice. In addition to the wonderful landscapes and animals that can be photographed, the tour offers numerous specialized talks to perfect their technique and guide the fans to improve their shots. In these instances of conversation and meeting, we will reflect on the different uses that can be given to a camera to achieve the desired effects (“How to use my camera?”), “Basic tips to get a good picture in the jungle”, ” Photographic composition “,” Storytelling “,” The correct use of flash “,” Post-editing and cataloging of images “and” Photography of conservation “, together with the realization of a” workshop of criticism and portfolio review “.
This workshop allows participants to receive valuable comments from other photographers, who constructively evaluate the work of the rest in order to enhance it.
All these instances are intended to help you grow as a photographer and accentuate your own style, while being guided by professionals of vast experience in the trade. It is also a great opportunity to create professional networks and generate contacts with other photographers in the field.
The photography tour of Napo Wildlife Center should be conceived as an opportunity to meet with other lovers of the trade and nature, in an opportunity to meet people as passionate as you, who travel the world in search of adventure, beauty and wildlife .
